Another Trip to Vegas!!

For those of you who follow our blog weekly, you’ll know that back in August we made our debut at MAGIC, the wholesale apparel show, in Las Vegas- read all about our last trip here. After having such a successful trip last time, we thought we’d revisit, selling looks from our Spring 2014 Collection! It was, once again, a great trip, filled with wonderful memories. It’s such a joy to see people loving Allie’s designs and selecting them for their boutiques nationwide! Here are a few of our favorite memories from the trip…enjoy!

Sharing the Stage with Doux Belle

Preparations for our “A Springtime in Paris” Party are building and we couldn’t be more thrilled to announce the addition of a fashion show from premiere designer Rachel Wagner of Doux Belle. This woman’s designs are pure couture, inspired by vintage romance and Parisian elegance. Perfect for a Paris party, don’t you think?

Owner Allie and Doux Belle designer Rachel, first met at Phoenix Fashion Week where Allie was stunned by the level of beauty and sophistication in each of her pieces. The colors, the cuts, the fabric choices make each piece a show-stopper. It was incredible to learn that each of her pieces is made right in her Scottsdale home!

After launching our “With Love” Collection we became immediately enamored with everything Paris. Prints like this and this made us start craving a croissant and some champagne. So, we thought, why not share our love of all things Parisian with all of you?!

“A Springtime in Paris” will be a fabulous party to welcome you all into Spring with Parisian teas and treats, champagne, tons of new arrivals, a fashion show from Doux Belle, and a trunk show with the beautiful Ashley of The Shine Project.

The party will take place February 22nd at 1pm in our Paradise Valley Location. Don’t live in the Phoenix area? No problem! We will be transporting you fabulous ladies up North with shuttles departing at 11am from the Sedona, Cottonwood, and Prescott locations. Makeovers for Moms

This past weekend we hosted another fabulous Makeovers for Moms event at our Sedona store. For five years now (here was our last event), Allie Ollie has been hosting a group of mothers whose children attend Camp Soaring Eagle, a non-profit organization that gives a camp retreat experience to children with cancer.

Knowing that this is a disease that affects not only the patient but the entire family, Allie created “Makeovers for Moms,” an afternoon of shopping, champagne, and fashion shows dedicated to just the mothers of these children dealing with a life-threatening illness. The purpose is to provide an afternoon of laughter and lightheartedness to these mothers and that we did. Each lady went back to their campers and families with a head-to-toe outfit on us!

There’s something about these months of January and February that can feel at times well, drab. The buzz of the holidays is gone and all that’s left is colder temps and not too much to look forward to until we hit full-blown Spring.

Hello everyone-my name is Tina and if you don’t know me yet, I’ve been the author of the Allie Ollie style blog since April. In addition to writing the blog, I’ve also been behind-the-scenes building the website, doing Facebook, developing the graphics, and helping Allie with a variety of other marketing tasks.

See, here I am 🙂 This was at our debut at MAGIC in Las Vegas this past August.

When I first started working for Allie (oh, did I mention we’re cousins too?), my first job was to cover a fashion show put on at a ladies luncheon in Cottonwood. After it was over, several of the women came to our Cottonwood location to shop. I’ll never forget the looks on their faces when they stepped out of the dressing room wearing our clothes. They were smiling, laughing, complimenting each other, and having a great time. Women who came in wearing t-shirts and old pants were leaving with animal print, fuchsia and lime green tops, and wildly patterned dresses. And, they were all so, so happy. Right then and there, I knew that Allie Ollie would be a place I would call home for quite awhile.

After all the years spent with owner Allie (save for the six months or so that I spent drooling around on this planet before she was born) i have always known her to be courageous, beautiful, and so, so strong.  Even as a kid she was tenacious, she spoke her mind, and had dreams bigger than most dare to dream. She is an example that life is for the living; that every problem is an opportunity; and that- perhaps more important than anything else- life should never be taken too seriously.

With the New Year upon us, we’d like you to consider one simple resolution. It won’t require a gym membership or an organic foods grocery bill triple what you’re used to spending. It’s something deeper than that and it’s inside everyone of you. This year…we want you to be bold. That’s it…just be bold. Try something new! Make a plan to follow one of your dreams! Laugh more! Be adventurous!

A Look Back on 2013

Reflecting on the past twelve months fills us with smiles beyond compare. Some highlights include opening three new stores (Cottonwood, Norterra, and Mesa), launching our first private label, starting our online boutique, supporting incredible non-profits like this one, showing our own designs at two fashion weeks, and having a regular spot on Sonoran Living. We couldn’t feel more grateful for all of this growth. But above all else, we feel so fortunate to have your continued support. Without a doubt, we could not have accomplished what we have without you; thank you for picking Allie Ollie as your place to shop. Here’s a little trip down memory lane…

Stay on Trend: 2014 Color of the Year Announced

You know that scene in “The Devil Wears Prada” where Andy (Anne Hathaway) stands in front of the formidable Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) in that “lumpy blue sweater”? After Andy states, makes the mistake rather, that  she’s still learning about this “stuff” she endures a cutting and rather illuminating speech from the Queen of Fashion herself. Don’t remember the speech? You have to watch it- so hilarious!

What we take from that speech, besides never wanting to be left alone in a room with Miranda Priestly, is that no matter how you slice it, fashion is everywhere – which we love! From high fashion editors to your favorite local boutique (we hope it’s ours) women wake up every morning and make a choice about how they are going to dress that day. So, when Pantone (another taste-maker in the world of fashion design) tells us what the next color of the year is… we listen.

And for Spring of 2014, we couldn’t be more excited by their selection: Radiant Orchid. Unlike the bold 2013 Emerald Color, this one is just a touch more subtle. It exudes confidence and warmth and is a beautiful color against all skin tones.  Here are a number of clips of this beautiful color on the runways already:
